Land Rover to launch global campaign for Freelander 2

Land Rover is poised to launch a global marketing campaign for the 2011 Freelander 2 model.

The campaign, features an animated character named ’Clay Mason’ driving around an animated landscape in the new Freelander 2.

Land Rover says the range of locations shown in the ad demonstrates the vehicle’s “all-round versatility and go-anywhere capability”.

The 30-second film breaks online today (14 October), and will air on UK TV from January 2011.

To support the ad Land Rover is also releasing a “behind the scenes” documentary-style film showing Clay Mason talking about his hectic schedule.

The campaign was created by Land Rover’s global advertising agency Y&R/Wunderman.

Phil Popham, Land Rover managing director, says “The Freelander 2 offers a class-leading breadth of capability unrivalled in the compact SUV segment and therefore we wanted to encapsulate this in an innovative film using cutting-edge animation for a global campaign.”
