McDonald’s moves global brand chief Easterbrook to Europe

McDonald’s has named Steve Easterbrook president of McDonald’s Europe just two months after he was appointed global chief brand officer.

He will oversee more than 6,800 McDonald’s restaurants in 39 European countries from 1 December. He replaces Denis Hennequin, who is to become chief executive of the Accor Hotels Group.

Easterbrook, moved from the UK chief executive role to the newly created position of vice-president and global chief brand officer in August. At the time, the food chain said he was to lead on marketing, menu innovation, consumer insight and “other global brand assets”.

He was replaced by UK chief marketing officer Jill McDonald.

Jim Skinner, McDonald’s chief executive officer, indicated that Easterbrook’s successor could be internal.

“We have a deep bench of talent at McDonald’s, and we will name a successor for the global chief brand officer position in the near future.”

McDonald was replaced by UK vice-president of marketing Alistair Macrow.
