Zuckerberg expected to announce Facebook email

Facebook is expected to launch its own email service at a media event hosted by CEO Mark Zuckerberg at its Palo Alto headquarters today.

The social network has refused to speculate on the anticipated service, although reports suggest those working on it have dubbed it Project Titan.

It is believed the service will let users set up an email account with the domain name @facebook.com, and that its unique selling point will be its spam filtering capabilities.

Another report citing an inside source states the offering isn’t meant to be used solely as an email service, but will co-ordinate with Facebook’s chat and group features.

The service is expected to rival Google’s Gmail service.
