Royal Mail tool to help produce flexible marketing campaigns

Royal Mail is continuing with its drive to boost commercial revenue through increased use of direct mail with an online tool that it claims will help marketers develop flexible Christmas campaigns.

The postal operator says that Door Drops Online allows small and medium-sized businesses to create and book unaddressed mail campaigns online and arrange printing and direct delivery.

Royal Mail adds that the tool is designed specifically for customers that do not have a relationship with a printer or logistic partner.

The move is the latest from the postal service designed to enhance the direct mail services it offers, particularly in the run-up to the lucrative Christmas period.

Royal Mail also recently reduced the booking times for unaddressed mail campaigns in a move the organisation claimed gave “retailers even greater flexibility”.

Royal Mail recently reported that its operating profit fell to £52m in the six months to 30 September.

Last month, the Government introduced the Postal Services Bill, which paved the way for Royal Mail to be privatised by proposing that private buyers be allowed to buy up to 90% of the business.

Phil Ricketts, Royal Mail’s head of strategy, sales and marketing for Door to Door, adds that the Door Drops Online tool will allow companies to account for late Christmas shoppers, allowing them to “adapt their marketing activities and quickly develop an unaddressed mail campaign if sales are slower than expected”.
