Crawley has been handed the responsibility for “exploiting the revenue opportunities” arising from the £5bn merger with Iberia, approved by shareholders earlier this week.

Additionally, Frank van der Post is to join the company as managing director of brands and customer experience.

Van der Post joins from hotel and resorts company Jumeirah Group, where he is currently chief operating officer. He was previously employed in various customer facing roles at Intercontinental Hotels.

The merger of the two airlines will see the creation of parent company International Airlines Group but both the BA and Iberia brands will be kept. It is said that the combined airline will fly 57 million passengers a year.

Crawley and Van der Post will take up their roles when the merger is completed on 21 January.
