Nuts appoints marketing head

IPC Media’s Inspire division has apponited a new publisher and marketing lead as it looks to reverse recent circulation losses.

IPC’s flagship weekly men’s lifestyle title Nuts suffered a 16.8% drop in circulation, recording an average of 147,134 in the period January to June last year, compared to 176,835 in the previous period.

Nuts still remains the leading weekly men’s lifestyle magazine but the sector has been blighted by drops in circulation and rival Zoo, owned by Bauer Consumer Media, also suffered a circulation loss of 21.6% in the same period.

James Thrower, currently associate publisher of gaming website Mousebreaker becomes publisher of Nuts and Mousebreaker at the end of this month, replacing Clair Porteous, who had a four year tenure in the role and was appointed publisher of Future Publishing’s film portfolio earlier this week.

Sam Wight, currently digital marketing manager on Nuts and Mousebreaker takes the role of senior marketing manager for the two titles with immediate effect.

Both will report to Jo Smalley, publishing director of Nuts and Mousebreaker.
