Kick it Out launches video response to Sky’s sexist presenters

Kick it Out, the campaign which challenges discrimination in football, has released a video in response to sexist remarks made by two Sky Sports commentators about a female official last week.

The video (below) features several women explaining the offside rule to the camera with the aim of challenging perceptions held about women involved in the game.

Last week, Sky Sports commentators Andy Gray and Richard Keys were recorded off-air making sexist comments about female assistant referee Sian Massey.

Both commentators have since apologised but Gray was subsequently sacked from Sky Sports and Keys resigned.

Kick it Out collaborated with McCann London to produce the film and social media campaign in order to further the debate about sexism in football and demonstrate women are just as knowledgable about the sport as men.

Kick it Out spokesman Danny Lynch says: “This week’s comments made on Sky Sports somewhat overshadow the brilliant work being done by our partners at the FA, the PFA and the Premier League to increase female participation in the game.

“This film allows a creative way to showcase this work and the strides that have been made in recent years.”
