Marketing Academy adds paid apprenticeship

The Marketing Academy is introducing a 12-month paid apprenticeship alongside its scholarship programme.

The not for profit organisation says that the addition of Microsoft and ITV as corporate sponsors has enabled it to create a 12-month paid apprenticeship for 18-23 year olds.

It currently provides a free year-long leadership development programme to 28 young marketers.

The programme, which is sponsored by Marketing Week, combines mentoring, coaching and learning “faculties” run by some of leading marketing organisations in the UK and includes 80 mentors, 26 coaches and more than 30 organisations.

Scholars benefit from professional coaching from CEOs, CMOs and MDs from companies including Microsoft, Nokia, Aviva, M&C Saatchi and the Home Office and attend “Boot Camp” sessions.

Mentors at the latest Boot Camp include: Marcus Wareham head of planning and strategy, at Facebook, Syl Saller global innovations director at Diageo, Charmaine Eggberry senior vice president of marketing at Nokia, Phil Talbot director of communications at British Red Cross and digital agency Albion.

Nominations are currently open for “rising stars” for the 2011 programme. The closing date is 1 March.

Other corporate sponsors including O2, and Cadbury/Kraft.
