The EDF Energy Select reward scheme offers business customers immediate discounts that can be used for business, home and shared with employees. It launches later this week.

Almost two thirds of SME senior decision makers said they would consider discounts available from reward schemes when choosing their energy supplier and 49% would prefer to receive instant savings rather than collecting points, according to a YouGov survey, commissioned by EDF.

The instant savings in the Select scheme include cashback offers from high street brands including Marks & Spencer, Debenhams and Halfords; discounts on selected 3 Mobile plans; and one month free AXA PPP healthcare.

In December last year, EDF Energy’s partnership with the Nectar loyalty scheme came to an end, meaning customers can no longer collect points on their energy supply. EDF says new offers will be available this year.

SME director at EDF Energy Adam Rider says: “EDF Energy is constantly looking for the most effective ways to reward our business customers and our research demonstrates that decision makers value instant reward schemes to support them, particularly as we come through a challenging business environment.”

Last week EDF reported a 74% drop in net profit to €1.02bn (£857m), saying to demand for gas and electricty had dropped off since the economic downturn.
