McDonald’s prepares retro campaign

McDonalds is considering the launch of a retro-themed campaign to promote a limited edition burger that marks the year its first restaurant opened in the US.

A burger made of bacon, barbeque sauce and onions launched in Germany late last year backed by a dedicated section on the fast food chain’s German website and a television ad.

The German TV spot shows a woman making a burger in Chicago in 1955 before cutting to a McDonald’s employee finding and making the recipe years later.

The fast food chain has since applied to trademark “1955” in the UK. A spokesman for McDonald’s refused to rule out a similar launch and campaign in the UK.
