Current marketing director Ian Dutfield is taking on the commercial vehicles after sales director from 1 April.

He will be responsible for customer care within Mercedes-Benz’ commercial division.

Dutfield has been marketing director since 2006 and has spent 25 years at parent company Daimler.

A spokesperson for the car marque says the after sales director role is “a big role to fill” as customer service is “crucially important” to the manufacturer.

The move is likely to bring about further moves within the marketing team, but these are yet to be announced.

Earlier this week Mercedes-Benz was named the UK’s top consumer “Superbrand” in the annual Centre of Brand Analysis (TBCA) study.
