Top Metro marketer moves to DMGT

Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT) has appointed the Metro newspaper’s top marketer to manage group communications.

Metro

Abigail Slater, head of marketing at the Metro for three years, will become communications manager for DMGT on 14 March.

Her role will cover Associated and Northcliffe Media which publishes The Daily Mail and Metro, business publishing division Euromoney and DMGT’s information and events divisions.

She will report to Kathrina FitzGerald, strategy development director at DMGT.

Metro is currently searching for a new CMO “to drive strategy and planning for the marketing department” to replace Slater.

Karen Wall, Metro’s assistant managing director, says: “The CMO role has developed over time from looking after marketing for the key elements – the newspaper and Metro.co.uk – to apps and further brand extensions”

DMGT increased revenue by 5% in the first quarter of this year, boosted by gains from its online division and national newspaper advertising revenues.
