Condé Nast readies further iPad app launches

Condé Nast is releasing a raft of new iPad apps across its most popular titles this year as it looks to grow digital advertising revenue.

The publisher plans to unveil 21 apps in 2011 after being buoyed by the response to applications for titles such as Wired and Vogue.

Technology magazine Wired is to publish monthly iPad issues from May, using Apple’s new digital billing subscription service.

Vogue is to produce special edition issues on iPad apps throughout the year and the July Issue of the British GQ will also be available on the Apple tablet.

Condé Nast says it hopes the addition of GQ to the portfolio will appeal to early iPad adopters and share similar success to the Wired app.

Vogue and Wired news apps, GQ style and Glamour style and beauty apps are planned.

Publisher of Condé Nast Great Britain Jamie Jouning says: “The editorial excellence of the December WIRED and VOGUE apps drew a range of high-end advertisers keen to capitalise on the enhanced commercial opportunities on offer.”

Jouning adds the publisher is looking to extend the opportunities to a wider number of clients throughout 2011.

The December iPad app issue of Wired sold over 8,500, while the December app for Vogue was downloaded over 7,500 times.
