The cooking oil is a blend of rapeseed, linseed and sunflower oil with 45% less saturated fat than olive oil and is high in Omega 3 and 6.

The brand has been developed as part of Unilever’s focus on healthier food products and encouraging families to take a healthier approach to mealtimes.

The TV spots will break on 4 April and the launch will be supported by digital activity and the brand’s Flora mums online community.

Unilever has also developed a guide to using the oil available to download from its Facebook page. It includes healthy recipes for roast potatoes, stir fry and lemon drizzle cake made using the oil developed by Flora’s brand ambassador Michelin starred chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, and by a group of “Flora mums”.

Flora Cuisine brand manager, Rachel Dowling, says: “Today we are much more aware of what we eat and understand the importance of making healthier lifestyle choices. Flora Cuisine is the first product of its kind to hit supermarket shelves and gives mums a nutritious, healthy and easy to use alternative to oils and butter when cooking family favourites.”

Flora Cuisine will be initially available exclusively at Tesco with an introductory £1 price point. Unusually for a cooking oil, Flora Cuisine will be stocked in the chilled produce area of supermarkets.
