Shelter appoints campaign director

Housing charity Shelter has appointed Matt Wright to lead the charities brand and marketing strategy.

He will take on the deputy director of campaigns, policy and communications role and have responsibility for Shelter’s marketing activity, campaign strategy and advice and support services.

Shelter campaigns to raise awareness of the housing crisis in the UK and lobbies Government on housing policy.

Recent activity includes the House of Cards campaign which saw 52 celebrities and artists including Damien Hirst and Vivienne Westwood to design a set of playing cards for its 2009 House of Cards campaign.

Wright joins from The Carbon Trust where he was head of marketing and communications and responsible for driving its Carbon Footprint campaign and getting food manufacturers and retailers such as Walkers and Tesco to include carbon footprint information on packaging.

He has also worked at FMCG companies Procter & Gamble and PZ Cussons working with brands including Ariel, Fairy Liquid, Imperial Leather and Carex as well as agency side experience at Rapp and M&C Saatchi where he worked on charity brands NSPCC and Oxfam.

He will report into Kay Boycott, director of campaigns, policy and communications.
