The news comes as MMN, the joint venture between Monitise and Best Buy Europe and Carphone Warehouse founder Charles Dunstone, prepares to launch its first mobile commerce service “Simply Tap”.
Simply Tap invites consumers to register their credit card and address details so that when they see products in store, online or in advertising, they can enter the product code through the app or text message service and automatically pay for and arrange delivery using the saved details.
MMN says it aims to bring together mobile payments, mobile marketing and mobile banking innovations to put mobile devices at the heart of the consumer shopping experience. It claims to be in talks with 17 of the top 20 UK high street retailers to sign up to the service.
MMN has also named former Minister of State for Trade Promotion and Investment, Lord Davies of Abersoch, as a Non-Executive Director
