The National Magazine Company’s digital publisher Sara Stephenson has left after 17 years.

The Hearst-owned company hasn’t yet decided if it will replace Stephenson, who is understood to have left to pursue her own projects.

Cosmopolitan head of brand expansion Rebecca Miskin will take over her duties in the interim. Miskin was recently named as a non-executive director of Centaur Media, publisher of Marketing Week, and a member of its renumeration committee.

Stephenson, who left the company two weeks ago, has held sales, publishing and digital roles while at NatMag, overseeing developments including the launch of its Allaboutyou portal. When it launched in 2008, the property was to act as an umbrella brand for the websites of Good Housekeeping, Country Living, She, Prima, Coast and House Beautiful.

Earlier this year, US publisher Hearst, owner of NatMag in the UK, bought French publisher Lagardère’s international magazine division, including Elle, Inside Soap and Psychologies.

It also acquired digital marketing agency iCrossing last year as part of plans to offer brands greater media integration and more creative commercial partnerships.

NatMag-owned Cosmopolitan relaunched its website for the first time since 2008 to allow for greater integration and closer partnerships with advertisers, as part of plans to grow the commercial appeal of its assets. Miskin, former general manager of iVillage, is overseeing brand expansion.
