Jonesco will not be directly replaced and it is not yet known whether he has a job to go to.

A Sky spokesman says: “With a view to continuing to improve our customer experience and service, we recently restructured our online operations to integrate them more closely with our content and customer marketing teams. As a result of these changes, Andy Jonesco has left Sky.”

Under Jonesco’s direction, Sky’s online division launched products such as Sky Mail, Sky+ remote record and Nevermiss.

Jonesco is a media veteran having held roles as AOL’s UK chief and Express Newspapers’ managing director. He joined BSkyB in 2007 to head up a new digital division at the broadcaster charged with growing online revenue.
