Women’s football league puts fans in control

The Football Association is putting fans in charge of key decisions on its new semi-professional women’s football league The FA WSL as it looks to engage with young people.

The new league, which launches today (13 April) and sees eight teams such as Arsenal Ladies FC, Chelsea Ladies FC and Liverpool Ladies FC compete this summer, is letting fans share their views and vote on topics such as half-time entertainment, food and Player of the Match decisions through a Facebook campaign created by iris.

The campaign builds on the FA’s aim for the league to be the most interactive league in the world.
The FA wants WSL to be “commercially sustainable” by attracting interest, and money, from sponsors and spectators.
