Samsung nets David Beckham as London 2012 ambassador

Samsung has signed up David Beckham as its London 2012 Olympics global brand ambassador.

Beckham will appear in multi-platform adverts and PR campaigns throughout Samsung’s London 2012 marketing push. He takes up the role with immediate effect until 31 December 2012.

Samsung is the worldwide Olympic partner for wireless communications equipment. The mobile phone manufacturer is a “TOP” sponsor of the Games and is set to be one of the partners for the Olympic Torch Relay that precedes the event.

Vice president and head of worldwide sports marketing at Samsung Electronics, Gyehyun Kwon, says: “David has been actively taking part in a number of initiatives to help young people around the world to enjoy a better life, while Samsung’s London 2012 marketing campaign will also place great important on the value of engaging youth.”

Samsung is currently searching for a corporate marketing director to leverage its sponsorship of the Games and to help drive sales across its range of products.
