Beano owner launches Mumsnet rival

DC Thomson, publisher of the Beano and Dandy comics, is to launch an online family and parenting community, pitting it against Mumsnet.

My Family Club is aimed at pregnant women to mothers of children up to 16 years old and will focus on personal finance.

The website will feature editorial, email newslettters and social media integration.

The publisher says: “My Family Club aims to alleviate the financial pressures and challenges that come with having children and will offer mothers a range of benefits and savings.”

DC Thomson’s portfolio includes women’s titles The People’s Friend and My Weekly, teenage girl mag Shout and Scottish newspapers The Evening Telegraph and The Sunday Post.

The company has offices in Glasgow, Manchester and London, where My Family Club will operate out of.
