Owen, currently group marketing manager, will be responsible for develop a coherent brand strategy for Channel 4’s multiplatform offerings.

She will report into Dan Brooke, Channel 4’s director of marketing and communications.

Owen’s appointment means all five departments under Brooke’s charge – press, corporate relations, 4Creative, media planning and marketing – now has a senior head. Her role differs from Radcliffe’s, who was head of network marketing because he had other departments reporting into him – 4Creative and media planning – which are now all under the charge of Brooke.

During her four year tenure in the Channel 4 marketing team, Owen has been involved in the launch campaigns for dramas including This is England ’86 and The Promise.

Prior to joining Channel 4, Owen was content director at advertising agency BBH.

Channel 4 has said it aims to return to its “mischevious” and “risky” routes and will create more digital content to get linear viewers engaged online.

Dan Brooke says: “Channel 4 is being reinvented and Sarah is at the cockpit of that mission.”
