Price, who oversaw brand strategy and sponsorship, left earlier this month after less than two years in the job. It is not thought he has a job to go to.

A decision on recruiting a successor has not yet been made

In the interim, all marketing heads for Aviva’s UK businesses will report into Anne Filatotchev, marketing director for its Life business.

Separately, head of sponsorship Heather Smith has been named direct insurance marketing director.

Price was appointed to the top job in December 2009. He was previously director of marketing programmes at Norwich Union before its rebrand to Aviva.

He has also held senior marketing and insight position at credit card brand Egg.
