British Heart Foundation launches social network
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has launched a social network to boost engagement with supporters and beneficiaries.
The charity hopes the free to use online community will help both its supporters and people affected by heart disease to share experiences, advice and ideas.
At launch it will include forums and the ability to create personal groups with additional features added as the site develops.
The online community is also designed to put sufferers and their friends and families in touch with local BHF groups and encourage them to get involved with fundraising events.
The BHF has also trained its nurses in the principles of online community engagement so that it’s qualified staff can engage support users through digital channels as well as face to face.
Roberto Kusabbi, communities and social media executive at the BHF, says: “We always put our supporters at the heart of everything we do and we realised some time ago that an online community would help people to talk to each other about the things that mattered to them most.
“Our new community has been two years in the making and will now undoubtedly go from strength to strength and help us build stronger relationships with our supporters.”
The network has been developed with digital agency SiftGroups.
