Amnesty international launches online TV

Amnesty International is launching an online TV channel in a bid to engage with a new generation of supporters through digital channels.

Amnesty

Amnesty TV will launch on 15 July to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International’s human rights movement.

It has been designed as a factual entertainment channel that the charity says will blend satirical comedy with documentaries and news about human rights in a bid to “humanise” activism and take it into the mainstream.

The programming will include magazine-style shows, campaign stunts and previews and reviews of human rights films.

Amnesty is hoping the channel will help it reach “reach grass roots audiences” and says it marks a significant development in how it communicates and engages with supporters.

Amnesty International UK’s head of brand and events, Andy Hackman, says the aim is to “engage and mobilise a new generation of supporters.”
