Vitaminwater’s mobile phone charging bus stops

Lara O’Reilly is Marketing Week’s digital and telecoms specialist and here she gives her own view on what companies from Apple to Zynga are up to in the wired world of the web.

If your mobile phone is all out of juice, then Coca-Cola’s Vitaminwater has the answer: its new digital outdoor campaign that lets you charge your mobile on…bus stops.

The new campaign, created by Crispin Porter & Bogusky allows commuters in Boston, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles to plug in their music players, smartphones and gaming devices when they are out and about, to give them a quick charge of energy.

It forms part of Vitaminwater’s  “You’re Up” campaign, because apparently the drink is formulated to give you a quick boost throughout the day. Very healthy-sounding…

Unfortunately, I’ve spoken to Coca-Cola in the UK and there’s no plans yet to transport the buzzy bus stops over to this side of the pond.
