Perez was appointed to lead Coca-Cola’s integrated sustainability initiatives in the new role of chief sustainability officer in July this year. She has now been elected by the board to the VP position and may now be in line as a possible successor to chairman and CEO Muhtar Kent.

As chief sustainability officer Perez reports to executive vice president and chief administrative officer Alex Cummings.

Previously she was chief marketing officer for North America and has held a number of senior positions within the company.

Coca-Cola has just reported robust results for the second quarter, the period in which it celebrated its 125th anniversary, with worldwide volume growth of 6%.

The company appointed Alison Lewis, previously general manager of Coca-Cola’s Odwalla juice brand, has Coca-Cola’s SVP marketing for North America, taking up Perez’s previous marketing responsibilities for North America.
