Facebook loses marketing chief Randi Zuckerberg

Facebook director of marketing Randi Zuckerberg has left the social network to pursue her own social media venture.

Zuckerberg, sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, is leaving after six years to launch a company that will help businesses become more social, reportedly to be called RtoZ Media.

While at Facebook, Randi Zuckerberg was charged with forming partnerships with media companies and was key to the success of Facebook initiatives including Facebook Live, a real time video news show hosted on Facebook.

In her resignation letter she said that while she was leaving the firm she would focus her next venture on social media and Facebook.

“We have made incredible progress, but there is still much to be done and other ways I can affect change. Now is the perfect time for me to move outside of Facebook to build a company focused on the exciting trends underway in the media industry,” she said.

Facebook has confirmed her departure but it is not yet known who will replace Zuckerberg as marketing director.
