OK! reported a slight drop in circulation year-on-year – down 0.4% to 457,522 – but a 5.3% increase for the six month period to June, boosted it past its closest rival.

The jump in positioning was likely to be due to its extensive coverage of the Royal Wedding in the period. The title also recently launched a spin-off supplement in Northern & Shell’s Daily Star Sunday as the tabloid looked to take advantage of the closure of the News of the World and entice over its former readers.

Closer reported a 12.3% year on year circulation drop to 452,243 and fell 7.3% in the six month period to June.

The sharp decline in Closer’s circulation also led to rival Glamour, published by Condé Nast, overtaking the former title in the league table.

Glamour rose 1.7% year on year to 489,461 and was up a substantial 9.4% in the period – the highest six month rise in the top 10.
