Kronfield takes on the newly created position after serving two years as executive vice president of international marketing for the company.
He will be responsible for developing and driving “unified” global marketing strategies to support Universal Music’s artists.
Kronfield will also oversee Cooperative Music, the company’s alternative international licensing organisation, and the rock label Spinefarm.
He will report to Max Hole, chief operating officer of Universal Music Group International (UMGI) and be based between London and New York.

Kronfeld has previously held marketing and senior management posts at Island Records and Universal Motown Records.
Universal Music Group’s record labels include Def Jam Recordings, Geffen Records and Island Records.
