Daren Carter will join the company next week to replace Catherine Woolfe, who is leaving E.on to become marketing director at parcel service Collect+.
The head of marketing communications role was created in January following the creation of the “Energy Solutions” division, which is E.on’s small to medium-sized enterprises and customer facing business. Agencies who will report to him include DLKW Lowe and MediaCom.
The role’s scope includes strategic brand development, acquisition and retention, direct marketing, customer fulfilment and above the line communications. It reports in to Jeremy Davies, marketing director for the Energy Solutions business.
Carter’s most recent role was as managing director of a retirement services business. Prior to that he worked for a decade at Norwich Union, including a role as promotions director, which included the re-negotiation of its UK Athletics sponsorship.
He also worked at Ronseal where he was part of the team that launched of the “Does what it says on the tin” campaign.
Regulator Ofgem is currently investigating the “big six” energy suppliers – which includes E.on – to examine how their profits are calculated and look at ways that complex tariffs can be simplified.
