HR Owen recruits Nokia marketer

Luxury car retailer HR Owen has recruited a Nokia marketer as its first marketing director to support the strategic plan of chief executive Andy Duncan.


Duncan joined HR Owen after stepping down as chief executive of Channel 4 last year and is a former marketer himself.

Now he has brought on board Chris Harris, to take the role of marketing and customer director.

Harris is currently global brand and marketing strategy director at Nokia and during his time at the company he headed global marketing for the premium mobile phone division Vertu.

The role has been created as part of a wider restructuring of the business and is a direct result of HR Owen’s “Experience is Everything” strategy for growth that the company announced earlier this year focusing on personalisation and a membership- approach.

Harris will sit on a new management board and his main focus will be to lead customer relations and customer communications to build and develop the value of the HR Owen brand. He will also oversee all marketing including promotions, events, advertising, direct marketing, and online activities.

In addition, he will lead the development of digital communications and interaction capabilities to engage with existing and prospective customers. Chris Duncan says: “Ultimately Chris will develop models for managing our customers to maximise their lifetime value across our different brands and businesses.

“In particular, his experience of digital technology and customer relations in a luxury market will bring a major contribution to HR Owen’s growth ambitions.”

HR Owen recently created a bespoke central London showroom for Ferrari working with the Maybourne Hotel Group.
