Greggs is partnering with Moto to open motorway service station stores, as part of its ongoing expansion drive.

The 12-month trial will see Greggs open two motorway sites under a franchise agreement.

Greggs says it will assess the demand for its fresh bakery range in the motorway service station market and if successful, roll out 30 motorway stores around the UK.

CEO Ken McMeikan says the aim of the trial is to make Greggs “more accessible” to consumers on the move and attract new customers.

The first will be in Lymm, Cheshire, in December.

The trial follows the launch of Greggs’ first coffee shop under the Greggs Moments brand to break into the growing market and take on established players such as Starbucks and Costa.
