Friends of the Earth creates head of campaigns role

Friends of the Earth has named Andrew Pendleton as its head of campaigns, as the environmental lobby group steps up efforts to “drive real change” in the UK.

Friends of the Earth’s Final Demand campaign

Pendleton will take responsibility for Friends of the Earth’s public campaigns, such as its Final Demand campaign which launched last month calling for an inquiry into the Big Six energy companies.

He will head up a multi-disciplinary team of campaigns, political and legal specialists and report to Craig Bennett, the environmental campaigning charity’s director of policy and campaigns.

Previously, Pendleton has worked with Christian Aid and think tank IPPR where he was associate director for climate change, transport and energy.

The charity hopes that a dedicated head of campaigns will help it improve engagement with the public and government on environmental issues such as climate change, carbon emissions and landfill waste.
