Carter joined Fujitsu as marketing director for its public sector division, its largest business in the UK, in 2009. He replaces Vince Kerr in the role.

He is a former executive director of marketing for Thomas Cook and has held senior positions at the Post Office, EDF Energy and NatWest.

Carter will report to sales and marketing director Paul Patterson. The latter says: “Fujitsu is going through an exciting period. Our business in the private sector has grown positively year-on-year and we have continued to provide services and solutions to the public sector in a very demanding climate.

“To continue to be successful, we need to differentiate ourselves in a largely homogenous market and drive new business through strong customer insight and propositions.”

Fujitsu UK offers an integrated IT product and service portfolio including consulting, applications, systems integration, managed services and products for customers in the retail, financial services, telecoms, and government, defence and consumer sectors.

It has invested $1.5bn in Cloud infrastructure and services to develop its offering to the UK market.
