The former singer and TV presenter will front an advertising and PR campaign for the brand.

The campaign will launch later this year and run during 2012. Activity will include in-store, point of sale, print and social media activity as well as a PR campaign.

It is the first time the celebrity has fronted a hair-care range but she has previously fronted campaigns for Carling and lingerie brand Triumph.

Redknapp, and her husband footballer Jamie Redknapp, are reported to be being axed from their role in Thomas Cook’s travel advertising.

The brand’s previous celebrity ambassadors include Australian actress and Strictly Come Dancing competitor Holly Valance, presenter Lisa Snowdon and ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton.

Ben Haxworth, head of marketing at Schwarzkopf, says: “Louise is the perfect ambassador for LIVE Salon Style, a range designed for busy women who need to be able to achieve salon-like results in their own time and their own home.

“She combines true sophistication with on-trend styling and, despite all her years at the top, also radiates a warm and down-to-earth persona. Her role as both professional career women and busy mum is definitely one that women can relate to and are inspired by.”
