Air New Zealand has thought of a novel way to kill off its year-long brand ambassador and revamp its marketing creative – by literally murdering its mascot.

Little fluffy Rico “died” at a party in LA and the finger is being pointed at celebrities such as Snoop Doog and “celebrities” such as Hugh Hefner’s ex Holly Madison.

It’s shaping up to be the most exciting whodunnit since Eastenders’ “who shot Phil?” (I still can’t believe it was Lisa).

To uncover the culprit, Air New Zealand has partnered with Hasbro to launch an online Cluedo-style hunt for the killer. Like all true legends, the search is likely to make Rico a bigger star in death than he was before he met his demise.

If only Sainsbury’s had the same idea to bring the curtain down on its partnership with Jamie Oliver…(only joking, pukka fans).
