NMA appoints Rufus Olins as chief executive

The Newspaper Marketing Agency (NMA) has appointed Rufus Olins, the former leader of marketing intelligence business Warc, as the successor to its former chief executive Maureen Duffy.

Olins, who will join the NMA this month, will take the reins of the transition group set up earlier this year to explore the future role of the trade body in the ever increasingly digital media marketplace.

The group, which was also charged with finding Duffy’s replacement, was being led by Adam Freeman, executive director of Guardian News and Media.

Prior to taking on the chief executive role at marketing intelligence business Warc in 2009, Olins was managing director at Haymarket Brand Media for three years.

He is also an experienced journalist, having held roles as the deputy city editor of The Sunday Times and the editor of trade publication Management Today.
Duffy, the NMA’s founding CEO, stepped down from her role in May to join international market research specialist TNS as its chief executive.

The NMA is funded by Guardian News and Media, Independent Print Limited, Mail Newspapers, Mirror Group Newspapers, News International and Telegraph Media Group.
