HarperCollins hires News Int’s Dawe as first CMO
HarperCollins has appointed Barnaby Dawe from fellow News Corporation business News International as its first chief marketing officer.
Dawe, who currently oversees marcomms for The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times, will join the board of the publisher and be responsible for leading efforts to reflect consumers’ increasing consumption of literature digitally.
Chief executive Victoria Barnsley, who Dawe will report to, says: “The digital world enables publishers to interact much more directly with their consumers. Our marketing activities have therefore never been more strategically important.”
Dawe was appointed to his current role just four months ago as part of a restructure at the newspaper business that saw marketing split into three units.
He joined News International from Turner Broadcasting in June 2010 and has also held senior marketing roles at Heart FM, BSkyB and Channel Four.
