Gershon takes the new title group sales and marketing director and will manage Abercrombie & Kent’s central marketing function and coordinate all cross-group marketing initiatives with the aim of ensuring best practice and consistency in branding and marketing across the Group worldwide.

She also takes responsibility for all the sales activities for the 50 Abercrombie & Kent destination management companies around the world and will also oversee sales for the Sanctuary brand, which offers lodges, camps and ships.

She will be based at the Group’s London headquarters and will be part of the team taking forward A&K’s e-commerce platform.

Gershon joins from her role as marketing director at Circle, the employee co-owned private & NHS hospital operator, which floated on the AIM stock market in 2011.

She is a former sales and marketing director for British Midland International and director of multimedia sales at Thomas Cook. She was also part of the founding team at now defunct all-business class airline Silverjet.

Ian Coghlan, chief executive of Abercrombie & Kent Travel, says: “Katherine’s global sales & marketing experience will be invaluable as we open up new markets and distribution channels, as well as expand the Sanctuary brand.”
