Watson, who joined Mattel as marketing manager in 2010 after stints at PepsiCo and Mars, replaces Erica Zubriski, who is to oversee global marketing of its Fisher-Price brand.

In the newly created role, Zubriski will be tasked with developing the brand’s image in all territories.

Mattel recently bought the Thomas & Friends brand along with Bob the Builder as part of a £430m acquisition of Hit Entertainment.
