Sainsbury’s offers Nectar points rebate

Sainsbury’s is offering customers a rebate on Nectar points spent with EasyJet, as part of an added incentive to shop in its supermarkets and join the loyalty programme.

Nectar Card

Customers will receive back 10% of their total points they spend with EasyJet flights booked through Nectar, if they have shopped with Sainsbury’s within the past 12 weeks through its “Collect more, fly more” initiative.

So for consumers that spend 1000 Nectar points with EasyJet, Sainsbury’s will give them back 100 points.

Sainsbury’s will also give customers a coupon to earn double Nectar points on their next Sainsbury’s shop and a prize draw to win £200 worth of Nectar points.

Nectar says that the initiative between the two partners is a great way of allowing members to earn loyalty points, even when they are spending them.

The initiative will be supported by a month-long TV campaign, an on pack promotion on Sainsbury’s milk bottles, email, in-store and social media activity, from today (13 February).

Andrew Mann, Sainsbury’s director of customer insight, says: “Since we launched our partnership with EasyJet, feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive so we are delighted to offer them something extra. This Nectar points incentive will allow our customers to continue to earn points, even as they spend them, and provide them with even more benefits.”

Nectar partnered with EasyJet last year allowing members to cover all the costs of flights, taxes, admin fee, speedy boarding and luggage, by paying in part or in full with points.

Rival Tesco partnered with Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club last year, around the same time that its partnership with Avios, formerly AirMiles, came under fire for reducing the benefits offered by the scheme under new terms and conditions.
