M&S brand director exits

Marks & Spencer brand director Alison Jones has left the high street chain after only a year in the role.

She will be replaced by Rob Weston, currently brand director for food, who will extend his remit to take responsibility for general merchandise.

Jones took on the newly created role in August to head up brand strategy for M&S’s general merchandise division, which includes clothing and homewares.

Her appointment was part of CEO Marc Bolland’s strategy to build M&S brands into designer labels.

Jones joined M&S from fashion group Arcadia, where she also left after just a year and three months as group marketing director.

Previously she was marketing director at Debenhams where she spent 10 years.
