Asos launches click and collect

Asos is to introduce a click and collect service that will allow customers to arrange delivery of orders to a network of local corner shops, an expansion of the online retailer’s multichannel operations.

The online fashion retailer has added the delivery facility through the CollectPlus service, which has a network of 4,500 registered local corner shops that act as secure 7 day delivery and pick up points.

It has been using the service for customer returns for six months.

Asos has long been rumoured to be mulling physical stores to provide a click and collect service to improve convenience for shoppers that find home deliveries difficult.

A statement on says: “There’s nothing more frustrating than missing a parcel that’s been delivered whilst you’re out. With Collect+, you can choose from thousands of local shops for your parcel to be delivered to so you can pick it up whilst you’re popping out for a pint of milk, grabbing a late-night snack or simply when it’s most convenient for you.”

Click and Collect is becoming a popular option for both high street and online businesses as retailers seek to provide consumers with the most convenient ways to shop.

Online fashion retailer already uses CollectPlus and Amazon has trialled delivery lockers in London, Seattle and New York locations such as train stations so that customers can arrange a convenient pick up instead of home or office deliveries.

Department store John Lewis has extended its click and collect option to include Waitrose stores so that shoppers that don’t live close to its stores can opt to pick up orders from a local Waitrose.

Tesco said last year that more than 40% of electrical items bought through Tesco Direct were bought online and picked up in store.
