Autoglass creates joint sales and marketing role

Windscreen repair specialist Autoglass is using the departure of its marketing director as a prompt to restructure and create a sales and marketing director role to oversee both departments.

Marketing chief David Meliveo is leaving the Belron-owned company to join Saga’s Healthcare division in the same role. Under Meliveo marketing was a separate board level function at the company.

Sales director Andre May, also on the board, will now oversee both functions – he previously had responsibility for coordinating Autoglass’ relationships with the insurance community.

May has previous marketing experience from roles in his native Australia, including positions at Coca Cola and Telecom New Zealand.

Meliveo has championed radio as a communication channel during his tenure at Autoglass. Latterly, he implemented integrated television and social media campaigns by using the social media platform to find a star for the company’s advertising.

He joined the company from easyJet in June 2006.

Autoglass is a shortlisted contender in the Marketing Week Engage Awards 2012 for its PR campaign.
