PepsiCo hands Amin global marketing chief role

PepsiCo has appointed Salman Amin to the new roles of senior vice president and global chief marketing officer as part of a series of executive appointments across its business, a move that comes amid the company’s multi-million pound marketing push to take on rivals Kraft Foods and Coca-Cola.

Amin, former executive vice-president and chief marketing officer, will oversee marketing strategies across the food company’s global food and beverage divisions.

He will report to John Compton, who was named PepsiCo’s president – a new role for the company – in March.

Additionally, global president of enjoyment and chief creative officer Brad Jakeman assumes responsibility for the company’s beverage brands. He replaces Massimo d’Amore who left PepsiCo in February.

PepsiCo’s global chief marketing officer for hydration Lorraine Hansen will take on the role of president of its global snacks business.

The appointments are part of a new structure for the business, which sees its global groups work closer with regional teams. PepsiCo has spent the last two years overhauling its top-level teams and will launch global campaigns for its 12 core brands including, Pepsi-Cola, Tropicana, Doritos and 7-Up.

PepsiCo plans to increase ad spend by as much as $600m (£378m) this year to claw back market share in the snacks and beverage categories.
