The iPhone and Android phone app will update customers on Poundland’s “Wow|” deals including offers on its top branded goods, BOGOF’s, multibuys and promotions of seasonal product ranges such as Diamond Jubilee and Olympics themed products.
The mobile app also includes a store locator with a street view option to help shoppers find its stores.
Mobile is a growing channel utilised by consumers seeking discount vouchers and money off promotions.
Jim McCarthy, Poundland CEO, says: “Household budgets continue to be squeezed and more and more people are now taking the time to shop around to ensure they save money. We wanted to provide our customers with an app to make it easy for them to see what bargains they can find in store, as well as attracting new customers into our store.
“We feel our customers will welcome our tool and we hope it helps families to save even more each week on household essentials and affordable treats.”
Customers downloading the free app before 1 June will also be entered into a prize draw to win a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S mobile phone worth around £300.
The value chain recently appointed former Morrisons marketing director Richard Lancaster as its trading director. He will also review Poundland’s entire marketing strategy.
