The UK is eBay’s fastest growing market, driven by a rapid growth in women shopping online and the online marketplace hopes to capitalise on this to drive further growth.

Metcalfe will help develop a marketing strategy to target female consumers shopping online.

She joined eBay last year from luxury online fashion retailers My-wardrobe.com as director of fashion retail, tasked with growing its fashion business.

Previously she has held marketing roles at online fashion site Cocosa.com, Selfridges, Sainsbury’s, Debenhams and Laura Ashley.

Clare Gilmartin, UK managing director of eBay says: “With the sector undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the increasing need for retailers to adopt new technologies and channels to drive growth, Amanda’s blend of online and offline retail expertise will be invaluable.”
