Britvic recalls all Fruit Shoot drinks

Britvic is recalling all bottles of its children’s drink Robinsons Fruit Shoot and Fruit Shoot Hydro packs over packaging safety fears.

The drinks maker has taken out advertising today (3 July) in national newspapers and has put information on its website about the product recall, which it says is a “precautionary measure”.

Both drinks are aimed at children between the ages of seven and 11 and feature newly introduced “easy to open sports caps”, which are thought to be the root of the recall issue.

Britvic says consumers with the affected products should return them to the retailer they purchased the drinks from for a full refund. It apologises “for any inconvenience caused”.

The Fruit Shoot My-5 variant is not being recalled and no other Robinsons products are affected.

Robinsons Fruit Shoot is the top-selling children’s FMCG brand, worth more than £96 million, Britvic claims on its website.

Fruit Shoot Hydro was launched just last year, backed by a £2.5m marketing campaign.

Britvic is the second biggest FMCG soft drinks supplier in the UK. It sold £813.2m worth of drinks in the take-home market in 2011, according to Nielsen Scantrack.
