Tesco launches Facebook double points app

Tesco has launched a Facebook app that allows customers to earn double Clubcard points by liking and sharing details of products they buy at the supermarket.

The four-week trial, which launches this week, is part of Tesco’s efforts to better integrate Clubcard with digital platforms.

Customers must first connect their Clubcard account with the Facebook app and then can click on the ‘share and earn’ button on Tesco’s e-commerce sites when they buy products.

Clubcard points can then be earned by both parties if the customers’ friends click through these Likes to buy products on Tesco’s sites.

Matthew Entwistle, marketing director for general merchandise online from Tesco, says: “More and more of our customers are using Facebook to chat about and recommend products they like from Tesco direct. And we know our customers also like to collect extra Clubcard points, so we’re really pleased to offer them a fantastic way to do both things at the same time. It’s our way of saying thanks for supporting us online.”
